Underground Exposed

Shelagh Douglas

The shapes, colours and textures of the rocks forming the earth’s surface, and the processes deep beneath the surface, have been used to create exciting images for textile design.

My images explore the shapes and patterns visible on a microscopic scale and the visualisation of these on a larger scale.

Biography
I live in Ballarat and am inspired by its gold mining history.  My work combines my interests of textiles and photography together with my geological knowledge. I use digital enhancement processes to create striking textile patterns from my photographic images.
